Quartz (Var. Amethyst) - Goboboseb Mountains, Brandberg, Erongo Region, Namibia
A castle shaped cluster of glassy luster smoky purple Amethyst crystals from the Goboboseb mountains in Brandberg area of Namibia. Littered with enhydros, it is easy to spend a great deal of time observing the internal characteristics of this specimen. It has a small quantity of Feldspar matrix on the bottom.
The mountains of Goboboseb are notorious for forming these Smoky Amethyst (Smamethyst) crystals, sometimes featuring some amount of enhydros (a colloquial term used to reference the 2 stage fluid inclusions) that can have moving gas bubbles. This is because they're hydrothermally formed quartz, and the process of their formation can cause water to become trapped inside the crystal.
Just say Smamethyst out loud. It's fun.
