This lustrous, dark red, Calcite crystal has a fascinating series of hematitic coatings and inclusions. The Hematite permeates the smaller crystals from another generation of Calcite, creating an epic composure of layered mineralogy. The surface textures of the calcite show through, even in the sections which are heavily coated. Spending some time with it and a flashlight is wildly satisfying, as you may notice from the video.
