Calcite is the most stable form of Calcium Carbonate (See also Aragonite and Vaterite).


Calcite is one of the most aesthetically diverse minerals in all of collecting, rivaling minerals such as Fluorite and Quartz. It is formed quite readily in a variety of environments and can be pretty much any color based on composition, impurities, and, inclusions.

What to look for: Color, Luster, Formation, Aesthetic Articulation, Specimens with Matrix, Associations, Inclusions, and, Less or No Damage.
